Around 19 million passengers of 200 airlines around the world were surveyed recently as part of the World Airline Awards. And the result? Austrian Airlines won not one but two first places – in the Best Business Class Catering and Best Service in Europe categories.
Best airlines in two different categories: Austrian Airlines took first place not once but twice at the World Airline Awards 2011 recently – in the categories “Best Business Class Catering”, awarded to the airline offering the best range of in-flight meals and drinks, and ”Staff Service Excellence Europe”, which goes to the airline providing the best service, in the cabin and down on the ground. The awards are amongst the results of what has grown to become the world’s biggest customer survey in the airline industry in recent years, with no fewer than 19 million passengers from 100 different countries taking part by evaluating 200 airlines.
Special culinary delicacies in Business Class
We were especially pleased to see our in-flight menu walk away with first place – and would naturally like to take the opportunity to offer you a taste of the gastronomic delights our Business Class passengers can expect to experience while flying with us. The rule in Business Class with Austrian is a simple one: sit back and enjoy! The fun starts with the arrival of the antipasti starter trolley carrying our unrivalled range of starter dishes. The trolley means you can choose from a selection of very special antipasti; you may like the look of the shrimp Caesar salad, for instance, the baked chicken breast, Shannon salmon with crème fraîche, or possibly the humus. For your main, meanwhile, we serve forest mushroom goulash with hand-made napkin dumplings, or if you prefer, fillet of Alpine salmon on orange risotto with zucchini, peppers, parmesan crackers and pesto.
And finally, something deliciously sweet to round off the experience, as the dessert trolley brings a choice of cherry ragout with vanilla sauce and mascarpone tartlets with espresso foam and raspberry culis.
An airborne coffee shop
Coffee to go? How about coffee to fly! It’s only natural that we should also want you to enjoy Austrian coffee culture whilst in the air with us, so we’ve chosen to offer you ten different speciality coffees in Business Class, to complement our amazing menu. For further details of these delicacies, see our redblog article “Of chefs on aircraft and flying coffee shops”. And perhaps we can meet up sometime soon – for a coffee above the clouds.
